Using Intuition to Move Forward
Oh, how I love to explore the possibilities! I’m a dreamer so it comes naturally to me to find joy in envisioning potential paths.
This is one of my strengths and dreaming big has enriched my life in myriad ways. A powerful imagination has led this rural Maine farm girl into fascinating worlds of beauty, pleasure, and spiritual opulence. I also use this gift to help others dream big for themselves.
Our strengths live on one side of the coin and our weaknesses on the other. I’m so comfortable with liminal space and so protective of my freedom, postponing decisions to live in my dream world can feel better than taking a definitive step forward that would close the door—at least temporarily—to other alluring paths.
I’ve learned from experience that this tendency to lose myself in dreams needs to be balanced with some occasional decisive action. When I don’t close doors, life has a way of coming in and closing them for me. And usually when life closes the doors, it doesn’t feel liberating.
So when I asked, “What should I write about today on the blog?” and pulled a Lenormand line, I wasn’t surprised to see the following:
Green Glyphs Lenormand
I interpret these cards as an invitation to write about how intuition can help us choose a path and move forward when we’re stuck in indecision and/or enjoying our dream world a little too excessively.
“Intuition” can be defined in several ways but for the purposes of this post, lets call it an inner wisdom that defies logic and reason. The degree to which people want to rely on intuition to make decisions is up to them and might vary depending on the decision.
I find that when people are struggling to make a decision, it’s often because they’re feeling pulled toward the option that doesn’t make logical sense and that scares them. An intuitive consult can bring to light what isn’t been recognized and honored by the client and once these hidden factors are revealed, there’s clarity.
People access their inner wisdom in different ways:
For more than half of the population, it’s through the emotions. These are people who are here to have a rich and nuanced experience in life. They often feel that they are never 100% sure of any decision and guess what? They’re right. There will always be an emotional aspect of them that feels pulled a different way. They aren’t built for 100% certainty pre-decision and that’s ok. They need to shoot for 80% certainty. Once they make the decision and take action, their certainty shoots up to at least 95%. ;)
For close to thirty percent, their inner knowing is in the gut. A couple inches below their navals, they feel either a pull toward the right opportunity or a backing away from the wrong one. This body wisdom has no words, no whys nor wherefores. If you have this Sacral Authority, a good way to get in touch with it is to have someone stand at least six feet away from you and call out the options one by one. As an option is called out, notice if your gut feels a physical pull forward or a pushing back. You also may feel like grunting “aha” or “nuh uh.” That’s the extent of your gut’s vocabulary.
For about 8% of us, our inner knowing is whispered from the Spleen, which I talked about in the last post. This knowing is immediate and constant but so quiet it can easily be drowned out by interference from any emotional or sacral energy we absorb from others. To be able to hear our little spleens we have to clear others’ energy and pay close attention. It’s not easy! I finally learned how to listen to my Splenic Authority through my tarot practice.
The remaining 4 percent or so of the population has either Self-Projected, Ego, Environmental, or Lunar Authority, according to the Human Design modality. I know less about these rare forms.
As delightful as we may find it to wander through possibilities and dream, there comes a point when our intuition is asking us to stop exploring and commit. Commit to create. When we listen closely enough to that inner knowing—whether it speaks through our emotions, the gut, or a quiet whisper—it gives us the green light forward on a certain path. If you find yourself standing at a crossroads, consider that perfect clarity may not come before the step, but through it. The most intuitive thing to do may be to begin.
